Albert Raymond Alvarez

Albert Raymond Alvarez was born in 1860.

French operatic tenor.

A man of splendid physique and a very fine actor. Born at Bordeaux.

Began his musical studies when very young. At the age of 18 he entered the army as musical conductor, but after five years gave up his military career and went to Paris to study music.

Made great progress at the Conservatory, shortly making his debut at the Royal Opera in Ghent and his first appearance in Paris in 1892, at the grand Opera, as Faust.

He made successful tours in Spain, Russia and England, and in 1898 to 1899 visited the United States.

His repertory includes 45 operas, in 11 of which he created principal parts.

He has been most successful in Romeo and Juliet, Aida, Le Prophete.
