Jean Henri Ravina
Jean Henri Ravina was born in Bordeaux, France, May 20, 1818.
In 1831 he was entered at the Paris Conservatory, where he was a pupil of Laurent (theory) and Zimmermann (pianoforte), and where he became an assistant instructor. In 1837 he left the Conservatory in order to teach and compose in Paris. In this city he remained nearly all his life, his only departures of note being a journey to Russia in 1853, and to Spain in 1861. His compositions consist almost exclusively of salon pieces.
